You will have a great time. If you're flying into Aguadilla, the spot you want to be at is Shacks.
Shacks is a right reef-point break- sick peeling rights over live reef. It's good to go, but you need to learn from the locals where to takeoff... too deep and you are tossed over live coral heads when the wave stacks up and sucks completely dry. Other than that- if you go down- make yourself very small and try to stay shallow... as you WILL find the reef and have some nice tattoos from it. Last thing- Urchins. They seem to thrive there... the locals keep a couple lanes clear for launching/landing. If you come in there you're fine.. if not, you will have spines in your feet for the rest of the trip.
You can find footage of shacks in a few video productions... check out Soul Fly and learn some tips where to be from Peter Trow and Josh Mulcoy. They spent some quality time there shooting that and seem to have it dialed.
Don't mean to make it sound bad- the wave is sick, it's just advanced with consequences.
You will probably want to have a surfboard for kiting there. |
