The rejuvenation project for the Native American in lieu site looks complete. Three islands were dredged out up river along with a new canal to access the docks. The water under the bridge next to the fishing bench is now 10 ft. deep which allows boat traffic up river. The Columbia was very low today so I really couldn't tell if this project added silt to the Wunderbar.
The fine people at WDOT listened to our plea of excessive speeds on the highway and added a solar powered " your speed is __" flashing sign and 40 mph just before the Underwood turnoff. It's all good in the Hood!

So what does the project do? I think it's great but what is purpose does it serve? I know it has something to do with fishing and such but I'm looking for some specific knowledge.

It is hard to believe, but it has been 6.5 years since PacifiCorp blew the damn. They gave the Yakima Nation a $500,000 grant to dredge their channel back to where is was before Oct. 2011. The Native Americans are happy, the fish are happy, the fishermen are happy and as far as I can tell kiters will be happy. It has a temporary sprinkling system set up to promote natural vegetation and it looks very environmentally friendly.

When the bnsf shuts us down from crossing the tracks maybe we can use the launch to set our rubber duckies a sail to the bar:-)!

Thanks for posting.
Too bad they did not simply move the spoils out onto the WS sandbar and put the riprap on the up river side.
Oh well
