so my lady put away a couple of her kites wet, and now a month later they reak of mildew. Any suggestions on what you can do to get the smell and mildew out? |

Sounds like a good excuse for a kiting trip to a hot, dry and windy climate.

I like this idea, and probably not a hard sell to your gal.
Another idea is to put up your kites and spray with a spray bottle a soapy mix onto it. Dish washing soap is what I thought. Rinse off after a while.
Another option is to buy a new quiver. |

Brand new Clouds turned pissy yellow after a Jones dust storm, so I asked about this dish soap idea on Facebook Cloudriders. The consensus though unscientific was that you will lose your "crispy-ness"
I'm wondering if a milder soap like Woolite would be OK. Ask The Dangler. _________________ CGKA Member

If its just a bad mildew smell, I've had good results pumping up the kite, spraying it with Simple Green, then hosing it off and allowing the kite to completely dry before packing it up. Like new again, smell gone. |

I bet next time you have you kites out for a good session in the sun the mildew smell will fade or disappear. Nothing like a couple hours of UV light to get rid of mildew. Unless the smell is overpowering it's really not a big deal. Seems like if you just keep them in the bag it won't bother you anyways - and it's not like you smell your kites while flying them! |

Be happy that your kites have mildew on them and not doo-doo. |
