Mon Jan 29, 07 9:49 pm Quick Question??? |
|
|
Hey guys im new to the board but have been kiting for a while, mainly land and snow. Anyway i am getting a new kite, its an 05 north rhino. now my question is, do i have to use the 5th element bar with this kite or will and 5 line bar work? Cuz north says it only works with the 5th element but all other kites that i know of are interchangable. Thanks, |

The north kites are designed for a tight Y line bridle. You might be able to get away with a Naish bar (they use a similar setup but different lengths) but I really don't know. My suggestion would be to go with the north bar. |

hey spike,
you would be better off getting a north vegas or slingshot fuel than an rhino. that is not really a good 'first' kite. it pulls like a truck because the people that ride rhino's want a lot of power and all the time.
if you look at the classifieds here, you will see plenty of good medium aspect kites at good prices. that or www.ikitesurf.com
just my $.02 hope if helps.

First off its not my first kite, i've been land kiting for a few years, i have had foil and blimps, its true that i would rather get a slingshot because they are bomb proof but you cant get better than a practically new 05 kite for a c-note. Yep thats right 100 bucks. Anyone else know if any bar setup would work, i have a email into north but they have not replyed yet. |

spike, I have 05 rhinos. Yes, they will fly on 4 lines or a full length 5th line, BUT it will not fly as good as if it were on the north lineset (or a madeup one). I tried putting a full length 5th on mine and thought that it made it a total pig. And jumping without the proper line set...forget about it. |

hey spike,
no offense meant. your first post sounded like you were new to kiteboarding.
and yes, for 100 bucks, that is definately worth it. i have an liguid force bar that i converted to a fifthline back in 2005 for sale. if you want it, PM me and i can show you pics.

I fly a rhino 5 16m on the 06 slingshot oneline bar. Works fine. When I first bought it, I began flying it with a bar setup for four lines but added a third leading edge line to make it a 5 line bar. |
