I plan on taking a road trip up the Oregon coast toward the end of August and was wondering how the wind is this time of year. Does it start to shut down or is it pretty consistent. Thanks |

Labor day seems to be the point at which things go south...literally and figuratively.
{actually the definition of literally has been changed to include it meaning figuratively now - look it up - so I just did a dum dum}
North winds are stable and fun in the sun. South winds are anything but that.
For the last few years I have kited until Labor day on the coast, with the occasional trip into the gorge when you get that weather shift. The nice thing about when the coast shuts down on that shift is that you get to kite the far eastern gorge where the gorge is actually worth it.
So keep it before Labor Day and you will have a high likelihood of kiting the awesome NW winds on the coast. If that does fail, you hit the Gorge. It's near guaranteed Kiting! _________________ MSN has temporarily removed commenting on our websites while we explore better ways for you to engage in discussion on the issues you care about. |

Your totally fine, especially southern Oregon coast in August and into Sept. And if a wet SW front happens to hit, get some leftys! And or head deep east gorge for some ranking winds and swell. |

Late August and early September are still happening on the Oregon Coast. Some of the warmest days, warm water and windy at times. But, it is the coast so no sure thing. Can be getting some long period swells and real size to separate the men from the boys.
