Some photos from last weekend's PowWow in the Simcoe Mountains. Really good conditions with a few inches of powder on a deep, soft base.

GMan, Toby, Brad, Jim, Bernardo, and myself. It will be a great spring season up there.

I have been wondering the same. All I have is Tele gear, never snow kited but ready to give it a shot. Anybody (Toby) want to comment on the pleasantries of snow kiting on Telemark gear?

they look like dynafit (touring) bindings. I can't imagine snow kiting in a tele setup, but always worth trying new things! I think you need a fixed heal to react the load of the kite in gusts and terrain.

Yes, that is Toby on the tele gear. Telemark skis are one of the best ways to snowkite. Keep in mind that a lot of the time the snow is wind affected - Duh, and you loose a little control at high speeds with tele in the wind crust. Otherwise they make a really sweet turn and lots of respect to those that ride em.

I only own telemark skis and that's all I have kited with. So my limited and very ignorant opinion is that telemarks are awesome with a kite.

Where is the access to this spot? We've got sleds so can and shuttle and tow riders. I'd love to try it!

Looks like there is a group of adventurers up here now. Blue skies around but the mountains are socked.

Roads a little rough and with highway tires I didn't get far today. I turned around just as John and Pete were making thier run up. Looked good though.

Looks like I have to hike it or get a sled.. sigh...

Forrest is your sled still available??

It's sold. The cheapest option is to get some skins, so long as the snow level isn't super low, you can make it pretty far by the vehicle. Keep in mind, you get your car stuck up there, it's a longer way out to civilization, than in for the snow kiting. Be careful!
