Victor you'll be fine on the north strip - you can always just hang out on the inside - it's not mast high Neptunes

Disclaimer**
The current can rip along like the deschutes - if you push it be careful / all of our crew dropped a kite in the surf getting a bit too agro and it was a bit death defying last sat 14' @ 12 sec

Sometimes we hit Tolovana Park on southerlies but the north strip is hard to beat

What about Manzo? I was out there last weekend working and it didn't look that good 10-40mph the day you guys went. I've windsurfed there on southerlies years ago but would be willing to drive up if you think Shipwreck is a lot better. Where do you start on a South?

I certainly am not a coast veteran like Gman and others - but I did a south downwinder at Manzo late summer. Started down below the campground and made it almost all the way back to town before the wind died. I had to walk the rest of the way. The wind didn't seem as consistent as the times I have done the north coast. I have done DelRay beach to shipwreck a couple time this winter. (one I had to stop halfway because the wind got too strong) The north coast is more wide open. South winds seem to be pretty solid. And you can drive on the beach the whole length of the downwinder - so there are potential rides along the whole route if you break down or have to bail.

Thanks for the info, if anyone's going please post as I'll be coming alone. BTW Windian and I tried Neptunes this summer and it was f**ked up! Super gusty, kites zooming then falling out of the sky a second later. Be careful there , 0 margin for error, rocks all around. V

Here's the graphs from last Sunday. I was down on the beach at Manzanita around 1-2 but it seemed 10-40. Clatsop looks a lot better but the sensor doesn't record lulls and takes way fewer readings so it's hard for me to tell for sure. In fact it's off line today. What size were you guys on and how steady was the wind at Shipwrecks?

Our crew was flying 9,9.5&10. The wind was pretty steady.

I am interested in doing another downwinder Saturday.

MacGruber the wind was better than that up north but there where times i made tracks back to the shallows in a few lulls and others i had to sheet in the 6m last sunday

Manzo can be great - sometimes we go from the Horse Camp/last lot to past town. Looks like tomorrows forecast got downgraded a bit - big swell and light winds - time to surf...

Ya, looks like it's gonna be light and big. Maybe enough for big kites around noonish but too sketch for me. Maybe next time. V

Yeah nothing today at Manzanita except 10' faces. Monday looks promising with 65 degrees and 7' faces with 15-20 south wind.
