Hmmmmm.
Weather for Saint Petersburg, FL
51°F
Clear
Wind: N at 20 mph
Humidity: 61% Fri
58° | 46° Sat
65° | 54° Sun
69° | 59° Mon
73° | 61° Tues
I think 1 mil should be plenty, I like my Rip Curls, or just go for the dish washing gloves! |

honestly .. its not the cold so much as the wind on the wet hands ..
i wear 3mm booties and my feet are toasty..
my fingers.. another story..
tried dish washing gloves (on a tip on kiteforum.com) this morning.. did not do the job..
thinking ripcurl 3mm pre-bent fingers might be the right choice..
my hoodie is made of rubber and repels the cold of the wind perfectly.. _________________ You fill that with Ice Cream and I'll eat it. |

yeah, the thicker they are the more fatigue you'll get in your forearms. That's the trade off. Also, around here you end up rigging with the gloves on which is a real biatch even with the one-mils. |

I seem to post this every year,,
Buy the pre-shaped (thickish) neoprene ones, : so they are toasty warm,
Then totally cut out the palm area...(this cures the fat hand thing),
So,,,,
you get the insulation where you need it --- plus you can pull your fingers out to f-around with stuff...without taking the gloves off from around your wrists...
You get it all; have the best of both worlds...
Hey, works for me
enjoy

hey bleighty
if i was you i'd just wear a thickier wet suit. you'll be surprised how much your hands warm up when the rest of your body is toasty. as a bonus feature, a thicker suit helps you survive a long swim.
won't work if the air temp is in the low 40s, but if you're riding in the high 50s and up seems to me like you ought to be able to get away without gloves.
just a suggestion. fo's idea sounds interesting too - i'll try that sometime. |

Brian:
I agree with Fokiten, when I lived in Wisconsin and kited there during late fall and early spring my hands were sufficiently warm using gloves without the palms. Nielpryde sells these and they might cost $25-30, they aren't restrictive and don't fatigue your arms.
on a side note I am going to be in sarasota/tampa and can't wait to kite with you guys. |
