A big thanks to the George Fox University football team (really) for pushing that monster double-log off the SI kite beach and out into the river.

And another big thanks to John for bringing a bunch of 2x4's for use as levers and organizing a team to push another two big logs off the beach.

The kite beach is now log free except for one relatively smooth log up close to the dike that we left for use as a bench.

Also, I finally got to kiteboard with my new 12M Ozone Chrono (Hamlin will be proud). It's pretty amazing. Believe it or not (I have witnesses) in 6-7mph winds I was able to stay up wind without effort. It seems like its going to be an amazing lite-wind kite. Except that I'm betting self rescue would suck, a lot.

I'm looking forward to this season.

I know! I thought I was getting it all week on Monday at Stevenson on my 9m until the wind dropped off suddenly at noon and the extra-fast current had me down past the Bob's beach in what felt like 2 minutes. On the plus side, I had 2 great hours and then checked out spots as I drifted downriver. The big con is I had to walk a half mile back after climbing the rocks with my kite in a wad and lost my old Mako 140 to the Rivergods. By now I feel lucky I didn't lose my kite or end up at Cascade Locks but I'm not eager to hit Stevenson again on an East with this current. Rooster has looked way better all week but I was a little shy of drift launching by myself. There must be a way to make that place easier so we could have safety in numbers.
I'm liking Rowena for Friday westerlies though.

It was a blast to see the crew even if only to drink beer, move trees and watch flydunes ride his new chronos in what seemed like no wind. He's going to be able to upwind with that foil so long as someone on the beach sneezes...
