just got back from the right coast (well, actually the left coast of the right coast), rode 5/10 in the fort desoto/st pete area, wanted to share with my homies (and maybe gloat just a little bit)
the beaches are the best, as picuresque as anything i have seen, and wide open: 30 miles of downwind potential from caldesi to fort desoto, kickers and swells in the gulf to flat water at desoto, 80/60 this time of year, some cool places to stay on the gulf and not too expensive.
i have always thought of the winds in florida as a bit unpredictable, and its true: 50-60% is about what they average during their windy season (oct-april) but man, when its on its some of the best riding and conditions i have seen.
pm me for any specific 411

i wonder if you could do even better %-wise if you were based in the middle and had the knowledge to drive right or left depending on forecast. (i.e. were staying in the key-largo area, which is probably not cheap but neither is the plane tix...) |

Thats funny cause if staying in key largo you don't drive anywhere, you either cross the road and are on the other "coast" or take a boat
Its still windy here, Tampa this morning 25kt NW |
