For all that new Fred Noble, he passed away this week. See link

Because of Fred you are kiting at some established kite locations and even more windsurfing locations. Fred was one of the biggest community contributors for Hood River in the past.
For the ones that new Fred, go out and have “Best Day Every” |

I didn't know Fred, but after reading the Oregonian story about him and seeing all those pictures of him with that warm-hearted smile, I wished I had. Time to live more awesome!
RIP Fred! |

Very Sad, I knew Fred from his days in the Gorge, was aware he was ill in recent years and contacted him once.... I regret not speaking to him more, he was a wonderful human. RIP Fred, you will be dearly missed. |

I only briefly met Fred when I lived in HR in the late 90's. He emanated such an energetic enthusiasm for the sports we love, and shared that spirit and his time generously. He clearly faced his illness with strength and a smile; something that will undoubtedly give others strength to do the same. _________________ If you're in PDX hit me up, I'm looking to meet kiters in town. I'm close in NW. |

Such an inspiring man. He has done so much for Gorge wind sports. Many of the great locations we have today would probably not exist if it was not for his positive can do spirit. There was always a smile on his face. I was fortunate enough to work on a few beach clean ups with him. |

Fred has always been an inspiration, from all his days on the river to his endless turns on the mountains. He lived life to its extremes and inspired everyone that was lucky enough to cross his path. Thoughts and prayers to Thor and the family. |

Every time we access the Columbia River from a beach launch along the greater columbia river between Portland to 3 Mile Canyon, we should remember and share our respect for Fred's historic hard work.
Fred and other windsport pioneers who first came to the Gorge and established these launch spots (private, public and state parks) understood the importance of establishing, developing and protecting these launch spots, along with how to work with the Gov't agencies that now maintain these spots.
These people put in their own personal volunteer time, resources and sometimes their own cash into making these launch spots a possibility for future users and generations.
This legacy is now very respectfully managed via volunteers who work with and support both the CGWA and the CGKA via their daily efforts to keep all of our launch sites safe, open and active for current and future users.
Fred is the reason for why I and other volunteers via the CGWA and CGKA do what we do, because he started it and we are here to carry on this legacy. _________________ Pure Stoke Sports

My condolences are with you Thor. Your Dad was a legend! Before you even introduced me to him I remember hearing about him for the first time: meeting a woman with a dog named "Noble" who (maybe jokingly?) said she named it after him! |
