Anyone familiar with Cozumel Mexico for kiting? Going for 8 days, family vacation but bringing kites. Country Club Beach is the closest to where we will be staying. How was the breeze and kite sizes you rode? Thanks! |

search for “Tulum”.... there have been a few posts this year on the Yucatan Peninsula that are relevant. In short bring a very big kite 14M or 17M and a light wind board |

I have been to the NE area of the island for kite boarding lessons. The Country Club area, I think is on the North end where the roadway turns to dirt. You might want to contact http://www.delillesports.com/eng/. They are at that location. Great wind on the North End. I really want to go back there to give it a fly.

Oh man, cozumel was so cool when i went. When are you going? The wind was only up a little less than half the time when i went and a 12m was a small kite. This was in jan/feb of 08 or 09, so kite tech has come along and things may be different in terms of necessary sizes. If I was going back id definitely be thinking my 11m & 15m as the quiver with a twin (country club) and a surfboard for the east side waves.
There are lots of people on this forum that are regular posters that have been there more times than i have. Hopefully they'll have more to say. |
