Anyone ever snowkite that area? I would think there would need to be good snow coverage to make it safe kiting on top of that lava rock - but it sure does seem to be windy out that direction.

That place is awesome and we try to go whenever its good. Unfortunately this year there is almost no snow on the ground there judging from the webcam. The best days to go are high pressure days with cold clear nights. There is a catabatic wind that blows north-ne there. Its magic! Watch the tomcat summit weather station. you wanna get there early cause wind shuts down by 12 usually. We have had our fingers crossed for a big snow year down low and sw wind! That combo would be incredible! One day we climbed to the top and kited 2-3 miles out and back across the top of the ridge headed nw. Good luck and hope it snows!

Thanks for the info! I just found the cams for that area and there definitely is not enough snow. Looks like the snow coverage gets better the closer you get to Jackson Hole this year.
