Heading down mid Feb, was wondering what i should expect for water temps and air temps.
I have a lame 3/2 and a Patagonia R3. Should i bring both?
Thanks

a 3/2 shorty would probably be about perfect in mid feb. if you are cold blooded, a 3/2 full could be nice too.

Flipper is on money. I just use a full 3/2 for warmth and body protection for the rocks in water. If you are kiter who does not go down in the water much a 3/2 shorty will be fine. Thin booties are great for not getting sea urchins in the feet.

i see people in everything for full suits to just boardies. To give you some type of measure, I usually wear a 4/3 in the columbia until late june, then its a 1m top and boardies til september. In LV/LB, ive never thought twice about the water temp in a 1mil top and boardies. We even did some long swims on the flat days for excercise in just shorts. It would suck bad if you got down there w/out your rubber suit and then decided you needed it, last trip i didn't even take mine though.

What you wear might be Influenced down there by the wind. Thermal = warmer wind and light cover. El Norte = wetsuit as it is a colder wind. That was my experience!!

Spent the last two weeks down there. For all my sessions including downwinders I had board shorts and a rash guard. Of course being a life long Alaska and used to colder temps may have played a part of being super comfortable.

Most folks I saw had shorties though and the locals were commenting on how unseasonably warm it has been. Take a shorty just in case.

yeah... better safe than sorry is a pretty good practice there. Not much in the way of options if you forget or change your mind.

I can confirm it's been an exceptionally warm winter season down here in LaV.

It's been in the 80s during the day and the water temp has been around 75f (normally it's around 68f at this time).

Many have been wearing shortys lately and some just board shorts with rubber tops.

I'm still wearing my 4/3 shortleg suit but it's definitely not required - 3/2 would be plenty. Just depends on how toasty warm you want to be!
