I did a quick search of the forum and the last post I found about kiting in Indonesia was a couple years ago.
Does anyone have a good resource for kiting in Indonesia, sumatra, thailand, etc? mostly interested in wave riding.

Ok just get to bali first. get over jet lag, drink- hang on beach , surf ulu, air port reef, changu or karamas. Keeping you eye on the wind forecast for lakey peak Sumbawa. I went in oct and it was windy everyday in lakey. You can go book your flight and hotel to Sumbawa in the little surf travel stores on poopies lane 2( main drag for surfers) right next to the famous Tubes restaurant. The waves at lakey are reason enough to go. add wind and shit, Your going to b surfed out! I didn't kite when I went there but seeing it for the first time in the water with pro Bertrand Fleury killing it on a huge long left reef , I came home and bought a kite. I hope to return there some day With my kites.

Spent more than a Month anchored out in front of this break.... Its not always epic but always fun... Surf in the AM and Kite in the afternoon, or earlier... Fun Spot.. If you surf you will luv the options... Indo is not always a great Kite spot but if you surf and Kite it can be magic...
Cheers

Sweet, I don't know traditional surfing but seems like it could be a great time to learn.
You say the kiting can be spotty - is there a best time of year?
