I gave Rooster a go today. Unfortunately the wind died about when I got there around 1:30, I shouldn't have waited so long to head out. So I took a little cat nap till the wind came back. When I woke up I saw a couple guys were just packing up. I am not sure how their session went but there was stronger wind before I got there.

I waited until the wind was almost 20 average then geared up and headed down with my 12,surf & skim.

I could see some white caps in the middle of the river however with the SW direction there was a shadow on the Oregon side.

I managed to get my kite launched and a few skim rides in but I was mainly working to keep the kite flying.

It got a bit sketchy when the kite would drop as the wind was blowing off shore a bit. I tried to say in the shallows but had a few instances where I went out to far dropped the kite and was getting pulled towards the WA side. Luckily I was able to relaunch or get to a sandbar where I could touch.

Based on my experience I would say SW is a bit sketchy. If something goes wrong be ready to ditch the kite or your get pulled across the river.

The water level is pretty high right now. Not much beach at the east areas where most people launch.

The shadow might be less on the west area as the water seemed a to show more signs of wind by the sensor but maybe not, it's hard to tell.

i was one of the guys you saw out there, had to help rescue my friend from the middle of the river. not sure if you can attribute it all to wind direction, the storm wind is so erratic reguardless of direction.

thursday looks good!! hope to see you out there
