need a little advice from all of you that have been lucky enough to kite in Maui.
The family and I go to maui almost every winter for about 10 days and I love it there but have never kited.
So the question is, what size kites to bring?
I only have room for three kites and I have 4 sizes.
My current quiver: ALL SS Rally's 6m, 8m, 10m, 12m.
I weigh about 175 ish and plan on riding a twin tip (mostly because I am terrible at turning around on my surfboard and I don't want to go down and get eaten) |

Bring one bar and all 4 kites if space is that tight. But seriously, a 6m rally folds up like a hanky. You could bring all the kites/bars in two rolling carryons and check them at the gate for free. Have fun! |

I was there last month and got 2.125 days in out of 15 because I didn't have anything bigger than a 10m. Winter tends to be a little less breezy than, say, October. If I was to go back in January I would bring my SUP... maybe rent/demo kite gear if it is good. |

Bring the smaller gear and if it is light go into a shop and "demo" a bigger kite.
I am same size as you. Last year was all small kites, kited 50% of the days. Late jan early feb.
Have fun!

Leave the 6 at home.
I'm 180, been to Maui 5 times, kited over 50 days there.
I've used my 6m once, maybe twice.
I spend most of my time on my 10m with equal parts 8 and 12. |

wind can be off this time of year or light. I would forget the twin tip and the 6 meter. take the surf board waves can be awesome plus good place to work on your jibes. 8-10-12 kites have fun! |

6m is fine in the summer.
Bring the other ones (even the the big one). The wind has been off and on for the past month or two. You'll need all your options. _________________ --------------------------------
