Subject says it all... Have people had break-ins/etc with their vehicles in the parking area?

Thanks,
MikeZ

With the talk of rooster, how late does the wind typically hold for these easterly days? Trying to catch it in the afternoon...

In general Easterlies do not blow as late in the day as Westerlies do. So if you're planning on going kiting on an East wind day, plan on doing it earlier than you normally would around here.

I've not had any problems with security at Rooster and I've been there more than most. It's an awesome park and I've never had any problems there at all that I can remember.

You know the drill...mornings are TYPICALLY best, but sometimes there are days it will blow all day--usually late August or Sept for those special days.

BV/RR forecast: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=45.54929291659524&lon=-122.22010472422971#.Ulwik2S9Kc0

Nukage tomorrow. If your worried about your car, park next to the ranger station as there is a lot of activity there or if you can stand the feeling of eyes upon you and being physically ass plowed, go to the east end of the parking lot where all the horny gay/bi dudes are hanging out, in, or near their cars, right by the bathrooms, looking for a random hookup.

Knock on wood, the only problems I ever had at RR are catching glimpses of hook ups down in the willow bushes in/on the Viet Schlong trail.

never had problems, lots of park rangers cruising through probably helps.

with that said, the rangers will get ya on the parking permits too. fair trade.

Hilarious and so true. Rooster is the one spot I put my wetsuit on inside the car nor ask anyone in the parking lot if they have a pump I can borrow. Shocked

Other than that...this time of year should be quiet, safe and mostly just us fellow wind junkies.

A couple of weeks ago, a friend had his car broken into at Dalton Point. He had just left his car for to go down and help a group get launched off the beach at the East end of the parking lot. Hadn't been gone for more than 20 minutes and they jacked the lock and stole his 6m Airush Lithium and bar, his Dakine Fusion Harness, his IPhone and assorted miscellaneous shite. He had an 8m and a 10m that were left.

He had just finished a Dalton to Rooster downwinder and was just driving back up from Rooster to get his friends car they had left. Then while they were helping out another group get launched he got jacked.

That said, never had a problem at Rooster, but lots of us do the downwinder from Dalton.

Rooster - never a problem. With the rangers randomly driving around and most of the "other park users" wanting to keep a low profile - I think breaking into someone's car is not a priority..............

Dalton has been a known trouble spot for a while now. The on off freeway access allows quick snatch and grab. It surprizes me that with such a nice outhouse it attracts that kind.

what kite did you fly. I was on a 10 Rally and undewpowered. Weigh a little too much. There was another woman tearing it up on a rally 10 but I had her by about 75 lbs. Should have put the 14 up for the late afternoon session. Watched the wind die from the parking lot:-)!!

You didn't ask me, but I was there from noon until a bit before 3. I started on my 12m Bandit, and that was good until I started feeling a bit too overpowered sometime around 1. So I came in and switched to my 9m Volt. As it turns out, I think I could have stayed on my 12m, since the wind dropped a bit around then. But I was fine on the 9m for the next hour and a half or so. It got a bit light at the end - especially in the lulls, but not a big problem.

Oh, and my car wasn't broken into, and I wasn't approached by anyone looking for a little action.

10m Rally/skim. Seemed like plenty of wind from 10-4 according to iwindsurf. And being 165# with a skim, I just needed enough wind to fly the kite and I'd go. Now today looks killer! Wish I were there...
