Yeah, saw something similar last time down at the coast. A dufus in a Subaru was racing down the beach in about six inches of water. All fun and games till he hit a low spot. The fire department ended up pulling his ass out before the sea swallowed him; the tide was just coming to low and was about to start coming in.
