No crabbing. Great fishing just off the Jetty.

You can certainly do some crabbing there but you might have to do it old school style. Panty hose with some raw chicken in it, tie it to a rope, toss it in the water, wait a little while and pull it up real slow and drop them in the bucket. Or, go to Dirty Al's or Daddy's and eat some of the best shrimp ever.

btw, there is a huge pier on the island (at KOA camp-ground area) and one in Port Islabel on the mainland side of the bay (pirates landing), there is also the SPI South Jetty, and numerous other good "no boat" crab catching and fishing locations.

Okay, there are crabs..but they not good eating at all. It's all about Gulf Shrimp in Spi. Shrimp Boil rules. Daddys or Dirty Al's. Palm Street Pier is great. Pier 19 has the best nachos and breakfast. Wednesday Night at Daddys is 50 cent oysters. Thursdays are half rack ribs at Louie's $8.99 with $1 sides.

I lived there last winter and took advantage of the specials. Get a local paper to tell you whats what. Service is a challenge at any of the restaurants. Have a drink and keep a good spirit.

Enjoy!
