Wind came in fast and strong. We were lucky to get off the water before it hit.

Another reason not to kite in and around thunderstorms.

It did make for a good light show in Hood River.

Total Lightning Strikes For Oregon On August 9, 2013: right around 12,000!!

Gman- You could see dark skys and a big dust cloud covering the Maryhill bridge. Good warning to get off of the water.

On my first trip to Rufus 2003? - guys where out on 14m and 16m Kites and a few windsurfers slogging, blue sky over the river and oregon side, some weird low clouds on the WA side - looked super mellow

I'm pulling the gear out of the car and watch this gust rip down the river, lifts the first guy on a big kite, 3 huge tea bags over the wind surfers, a half mile down river and still hanging on - he directs it perfectly into the cove and crashes it in the wind shadow - unscathed Shocked
