Wed Jul 24, 13 3:51 pm Event site and broken glass. Watch Out! |

Today I was at the Event site early and on my walk out on the spit I noticed that some morons had a party last night and left several broken wine bottles in a sand depression. It was near a small log and very near the first point, right in the middle of all the action. I stopped and picked out what fragments I could, and left them in the lee of the log. So at least they would be visible. I couldn't get them all and was concerned that they would get covered in sand and reappear later. They could really cause someone a lot of painful damage. I walked back to the event site and asked if someone from the port could bring a shovel and bucket to recover the broken glass.
The other reason I'm writing this is that I think there should be a no glass policy on the spit. S. Padre Island has signs at every Gulf beach entrance indicating no glass and you can walk their beaches without any concern. If Texans can keep their beaches clean why can't we?
