|

Can anyone recommend a good PC video editing software for use with GoPro files?
My Sony Vegas 8 doesn't like the outputs from the Cineform Studio...only picks up the audio. Widows Movie Maker seems to handle the AVi's so maybe I can live with that... |

Get a program called Handbrake Pro, it's a free DL. It will flip your files to whatever you want. Vegas seems to be the editors choice for pc. |

Thanks guys...
Jeff, I already had Handbrake for converting files for my phone and didn't think to try it for this. First guess at the settings produced a file that Sony was reading but still didn't seem to like very much (choppy playback). I will keep working with it.
Oh well, I was hoping not to add yet another conversion step for every clip coming out of the GoPro...but if that's the way it has to be it's still worth it...the clips are amazing! |

Windows Movie Maker comes free on PC's and will work with .avi files. It does just about everything but green screen and reverse I think. |

Matt, unless I am missing something, the Cineform Studio doesn't let you stich clips together, apply a sound tracks, that sort of thing.
It's designed to let you trim and convert the MP4 clips that come stright out of the GoPro and apply some changes (such as FPS) to AVI. Then there's a second step of exporting them back to MP4 and you can apply some other stuff like color filters. |

GoPro Cineform Studio takes footage captured with the 3D HERO System and converts it into viewable 3D files. |

Windows movie maker is free and OK for basic edits.
You need to download the proper version as it has a few more features than the default than comes packaged with windows.
It won't edit a lot of formats so you often need to convert the file first using conversion tool (such as AppGeeker). |

I found early on that a lot of the software I was trying to use did not like Cineform Studio files. I saw no real benefit to the program and really seemed to be a waste of time converting to those files. I removed Cineform Sudio and I just open "My Computer" - locate the raw video and picture files on the gopro - and download them straight into whatever video editing program I am using. Windows Movie Maker live is a nice easy and free program. I currently am using Cyberlink PowerDirector. I don't see myself spending $600 for Sony Vegas Pro anytime soon.......... |

That does sound more reasonable. I may check that one out sometime also. So far I am pretty happy with the CyberLink program. |
