A woman called into Car Talk on the radio this weekend, and said she was from Hood River, Oregon. When Tom and Ray asked where the hell that is, she said it's the home of winter pears and kiteboarding. They said "Kite ... what?" and she tried to explain flying a kite and having a surfboard, and they had a little clueless discussion about it before they got to her car problem.
