Has anyone tried anything that works good on the water? Won’t fog or spot? _________________ Necker |

I've been using the maestormgear horizons, they're polarized and fit my face better than the marlins and all the other seaspec type goggles. They have the soft rubber around the nose/brow where the glasses get driven into your face if you crash hard (gave myself a concussion crashing and they didnt bruise my face, so that's gotta count for something).
Water beads off them pretty well, and I haven't run into any fogging issues yet (they're also more comfortable and more helmet compatible than the other styles i've tried).
You can get them for $30 on their website & ebay (free shipping) or I got mine cheaper ($45 for 2 pairs) through amazon.

I also use cheap safety glasses from big box hardware stores. UV blocking since they are made with polycarbonate lenses, come in a bunch of styles, and as well as clear, yellow, tinted, etc. And good side coverage since they are safety glasses after all.
but mostly cuz they are cheap, i buy a few at a time, and i just replace them when they get scratched, or sink.
I use some surgical tube to help keep them on.

I use polarized Sea Specs, less than $30 on ebay with a strap and venting to reduce fogging. |

"Thank you for the feedback. I have heard good things about Oakley and Kurtis Surf Goggles. These offer a polarized custom fit, but has anyone tried them www.KurtisUSA.com ?" |

Side note.... If your ophthalmologist ever suggests an inter-occular lens surgery, jump on it. I had mine 5 years ago and my eyes have never been happier. Some minor tearing strangeness the first 6 months, and that's the only oddity. Was able to (re)gain 20/20 vision.
Will try some of these shades suggestions. I have never found anything to be happy about, after dumping probably $1K in the Columbia River over 20 years with broken straps and blown lenses. _________________ CGKA Member

I have used a variety of sun eye protection over the years. Frankly I don't know how folks can stand staring at that blinding whitewater especially on the coast.
The primary problem with goggles advertised as surf specific is fit. If the handful that exist actually fit your face then you are in luck.
But I have found the best glasses come from the fishing industry. These are glasses specifically designed for staring at the water for hours and the industry is so much larger that prices on the specs are cheap. Go to the fishing department and pick up a pair of polycarbonate polarized specs for $30. At that price you can turn them over every couple of seasons when they get scratched up.
Plus you can find a pair that actually fits and you look good in...
Now the big question is how do you keep from loosing these on the water. Pair them with neoprene Croakies and cover the whole thing with a Gath Surf helmet.
Yea, i said it --- one of the primary reasons I wear a helmet is to keep my glasses on! |

My reason also, I've yet to loose my prescription glasses with tight croakies and a helmet.
I prefer not to have my glasses polarized, it seem to take away the water contours the we search out so much, kinda makes the water flat looking. IMHO |

Go to Walmart and buy polarized watersports sunglasses that come with a heavy duty elastic strap. Then tie strap to your wetsuit back zipper pull.
They cost $45, and are first class polarized lenses. Never lost mine. Look very similar to Seaspecs.
Also available with suscription lenses for $125 total.
Do not go to eyedocter they will cost double and no better. |

Do you guys know if any of these options are shatter resistant? I'd hate to put my eyes at risk if a board hits me in the face. I've always assumed the high price d options take this into consideration, but I don't know in reality. _________________ Does this cover my thunder? |

Look to see if they cover the ANSI 1781(I think it's this particular one) regulation or they will not be shatter proof! |
