Ill see if I can find mine and post a pic. Meantime get a Cabrihna leash, they are stronger and much easier to pull when you need to ditch the kite. They do cost more, but hell wahts a lost or damaged kite cost? More than 35 bucks right?
But the important point, ALL these companies lack the money to do any serious testing before release of a product.... so we end up being the testers.
Thats why this feedback is needed, not just for riders but designers as well. |

the depower rope is to thin, and when a little worn is way to aggressive,I ride lite wind alot and pull on the center lines. It works for me. I understand they did this to make the depower easy. If you rig it right why depower? that rope is way too complicated.
...I say make kites idiot proof,, and that stiching kills me when i put my thumb to hold down the bar. D.P. _________________ -know as the SECRET AGENT- |

Ride 09 6/8/10m RPM all on the same bar and just back from another sweet 30 knot day 90 F w/ no wetsuit and personally have never had a problem with bar, leash or the kites and they have provided countless hours of stoke.
Much thanks to SS and the R&D put into them and yes there is always going to be room for improvement and from what ive seen/heard SS warranty is second to none so bet they make it right for you.
Also easy to build a bomber leash w/ some 1" tubular climbing webbing, quality bungy cord and a few climbing biners. Wide gates are nice for self launch/land off of random objects and also to clip over spreader bar center should hook fail. |

I live in Hood River and know at least 50 locals who ride Slingshot kites and have ridden them hard for the last 4 years. And their kids!
Plus all the other people (hundreds) I see at the Event Site on SS kites.
We live for the big days here and on the Oregon coast. Beginners, experts, lightweight kids and fat dads.
I also know 3 friends who work for SS (including my step-daughter).
I have over 80 days this year and 100 last year on my SS kites.
My whole family rides SS.
I have NEVER heard of a leash or CL breaking as you describe.
I'm not saying it never happens,,,,, just that it must be a very rare issue if I've never heard of it.

Sun Oct 21, 12 8:43 am SS...some issues |
|
|
I spent the first year of my kiteboarding experience trying to learn on a Link - after countless sessions/hrs trying to tune the kite, f#@king around with the new red bridles, calling the tech reps for advice etc, I gave up and sold the kite for 25% of what I paid. (apparently everyone else Knew it was a dog as well).
SS makes some great products but I won't buy thier new releases and will always wait for a year or two until all of the bugs have been worked out. |

I learned on the diesel, absolutely terrible kite. The T2 wasn't that great either with the leash attachment above the bar (i just hooked it to the chicken loop) and unless you inflated them above the recommended psi they had a tendency to invert. The Link was definitely in that category of a kite that was a terrible mistake to buy.
However the Rally is an amazing kite. i know there's some complaints about the 2013's but I really believe that they're better than the 2012 _________________ BIP- "YOUR GIRLFRIENDS FAVORITE" |

Fri Apr 12, 13 6:57 am any pictures of broken ss leashes? |
|
|
I'm still interested in seeing pictures of broken ss leashes, as I'm still using them for suicide riding on the water, then switch to a flag out leash on land.
My 2010 CSS bungee just broke unexpectedly when landing my kite this week, I'll be making a replacement one out of amsteel. (Edit: Amsteel was too thick, am trying 600# Q-line instead). The CSS bungee had no obvious signs of wear. It broke where the interior bungee is sewed to the outside line.
I did come across this post complaining about cabrinha leashes:

I don't see how those bungies can last, on any brand, more than a season or 2... |

I just checked out some old footage of Lenten and Zoon. Looks like the bars were working just fine for them! |
