thats for the advice. it feels like more than sore muscles when it happens....often the spreader bar will be flipped up..and the top of the bar pad is kind of digging into my stomach, but that used to happen on really windy days where i had t fly the kite hgih and i usually didnt notice it.... |

A perfect fitting harness may be your most important piece of gear because if they don't fit.......everything else (bar, slack, safety system, timing) is impacted and is a huge nuisance when trying to get your stoke on.
Your spreader bar pad could also be too small for your harness, or your shorts too big? I get a little flex in my hook but my Dakine spreader pad never flips etc. Older Nitrous shorts had thinner strap/pad so they would flex more and get sloppier during a session. In 2011 Dakine beefed up everything and I haven't broken a strap yet or had bruising, which was common in the older versions. Different riding styles comparing seat to waist but an old rib injury prevents me from using a waist so the Nitrous shorts have worked well for me. Good luck with the rehab. |

Exercise is FOR your sports, not doing your sports!
That said, your body is made to be used or abused(?)...use it well (that of course, is defined differently by all), use it 'til you can't anyomore ...'cuz none of us are gonna get out of this world alive!!!
Pain is good; without it we wouldn't know we were alive!
Whether it's the harness or not, keep on keeping on!!! |

Agree with earlier comments on a proper fitting harness. I went through a couple before I found one that works for me. There are lots of good harnesses out there (especially those made in the last 2-3 years), but the new Dakine Pyro was the ticket for me. It's got a strap that prevents the spreader bar rising, and overall just fits very snug, but still comfortably.
As for fitness, the more fit you are, the longer you'll be able to ride, the more progress you'll make, the more fun you'll have, etc. etc. etc. I could easily blow up to 250lbs if I wanted to, but have way more fun at 210. |

If it hurts immediately and the pain is below your harness/bar, you might want to get checked out for a hernia.
I'm not a doctor. But any muscle, when worked, should feel tired and weak before you hurt a lot, unless you just have a low pain threshold. |
