Yea, apparently winching is "illegal" on the Hood River waterfront. I heard some very sparse reasons, but nothing that made a great deal of sense. I think a designated winching area would be an awesome idea for the boat basin though. |

wow, the dark side of the force is surprisingly strong up there
I can imagine putting a logger from the 50s in suspended animation, awakening him in 2012, showing him kids having fun on a winch (which is a pretty low tech invention) and then saying "Hood River has outlawed this", gauging his reaction. He'd probably think HR must have been annexed by the Soviets to outlaw such a pedestrian form of amusement.
it's a freaking lawnmower with a rope, you outlaw that? |

Hey, no need to hate on Soviet people here. I'm sure people are happily winching and cable parking over in Russia every day. You may disappear if you say something bad about Putin, but at least they don't have waterfront "friends" committees, haha. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

careful Genek, you might be "friended", never to be seen again, for inappropriate usage of a river or waterway.
in fact, did the "friends" approve of that slider you're hitting? it doesn't look like a "friendly" activity to me |
