It was pretty crazy yesterday. I went and ignored the cardinal rule of kiteboarding "always bring all your kites" so I ended up overpowered on my 11m. Would have been awesome to have my 9m yesterday. Going to make sure to bring it today. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

Wed Sep 12, 12 8:21 am What is good for the northern coast is good 4 SI |
|
|
Northern coast is forecasted to have 20-25 mph winds from the N with gusts to 35. Can't say I have ever seen a forecast like this for the N coast w/ N winds this strong. I'm on the beach at 10th st access @ Gearhart.
Currently Ne winds with some puffs. Not even 14m yet. Waves are glassy and waist high.
Anyways, I called it that SI would put out last night. I think she is in a trampy mood (SI) and she will lay on her back and put out again today. Enjoy. |

The long glassy waves, low varience of wind and green and clean water last night were probably too pure for you.
You probably are on the same side as Pink Floyd and prefer and "Need a dirty woman".
By all means, go for seconds; I've got my hands full over here. |

Is SI going to work tonight or will the easties kill it off? May have to hit Rooster instead but I'd like to avoid driving across town during rush hour if I can avoid it. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

iKite says that it Sauvies should build strong mid teens NNE winds this afternoon. Does NNE work at Sauvies? That would be almost an onshore wind wouldn't it? |

Yeah, NNE works at SI. Sometimes it can be an issue if it gets too east because the trees on the opposite shore cause a wind shadow but if it's anywhere near as strong as yesterday it shouldn't be an issue. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

Personally - I would brave the traffic to get to the stronger winds at Rooster. I like my 9 meter kite - but my 6 meter is just way too fun. Rooster was a blast last Friday. Rooster has just been a steady straight wind line all day on the sensor. It will probably blow till after dark. Wish I wasn't working down in Salem right now.......... |

If I remember correctly, the Ne tack was out to that green sign on the Washington side, kinda upriver from the launch area located in a grove of trees. I loved NE back in the day. As for SI blowing tonight, I would not rule it out for a later blow.
If one doesn't want to drive out to RR when the wind is bowing east at the airport, try Marine dr./Broughton Beach. Car break-ins can b an issue here. |
