Crashed on weds and doc says I perforated ear drum. Should heal on its own, small tear, keep it dry Any advice from others on what activities they've done? How long to heal? Cycling ok? Thanks!

Ouch, sorry. No swimmers ear drops, trust me.
Slept with that ear down for a couple days to drain the water from the backside of the ear drum. A week to feel better, stayed out of the water for a month(probably overkill) for infection.

Use it to your advantage by asking your wife how her day was.

I played water polo in high school. I think it is a great idea to kite with a water polo cap. I say it should be compulsory equipment sold in each kite shop.

You might look like a kook but not as a bigger kook than riding with paintball helmets... Smile

The swim cap is a good idea, but you also need to plug your ear with swimmers wax as well, because the air compression from the cap can/will hurt your ear more.

I blew my eardrum years ago botching a front loop windsurfing. Even though I had a neoprene hood on, the compression from the blow is what blewout my eardrum.

To keep my water time going, I was used swimmers earwax to plug my ear, and then wrapped the ear with ceram wrap, then wore a neoprene headband or a hood over my head to keep the ear protected and secure.

Keep the river water out of your ear. Water this time of year is no bueno, big time for cuts or injuries.
