Been seen around Stevenson for at least several years... I don't think any sharks have been counted in the fish ladder though.

Seals tend to go into non salty water a bit more than sharks do. Ive seen seals a number of times at Sauvies and Rooster. I havent seen a shark anywhere yet, I would rather keep it that way while kiting. But being in the water with them definitely does keep your curious about them while giving a greater level of respect than most pure land dwellers probably would hold.
And I saw a comment about our sharks being lazy, isn't the nose bounce a standard for how great whites (Some of our locals if I understand correctly) attack? Wasn't there a surfer or two that got rammed by some last fall?

I used to keep track, it seemed like surfers got nibbled on in OR about a half dozen times per decade. No deaths, just bump and nibble. A surfer was bitten quite badly in the 70s, he survived.
I don't know if they're lazier here than S Africa or what. I'd guess there is more food per shark here so they don't need to get too creative or energetic to get their fill.
But I don't think they're watching the kiters ride by thinking "damn I'm hungry, but that thing is just too fast and doesn't look worth biting". I'd file that notion under wishful thinking. I think they're watching you kite thinking the same thing McNulty said to Stringer ... "catch **you** later"

I don't think much about sharks when in the ocean, but when the seals start acting up, I always think of Naks encounter.
There have been at least two fatalities in So Cal in the last few years. A swimmer & a sponger. I always feel like shark bait when floating around on a sponge with a pair of fins on ...

If I pull the rock star ending I want the Polaris...during a strapless air. The image of Repurchase is what keeps my jibes getting better. The direct surface approach is too Hollywood.
