Never been to Jones yet and will be nearby Friday. What temp and pressure gradients do the Jones locals look for to get some wind?

Cheers

Jones Beach Observations
Current Observations Wed Jul 25, 6:23 pm local time

Pressure Gradients Inches Dir Trend
AST - PDX 0.099999999999998 W Increasing

Temperature Gradients Degrees F Trend
AST - PDX -23 Decreasing

Site pressure Wind Sky Temp
AST 29.99 W at 12 mph (19 km/h) overcast 61F (16C)
KLS 29.91 W at 8 mph (13 km/h) clear skies 81F (27C)
PDX 29.89 NW at 6 mph (9 km/h) partly cloudy 84F (29C)

Advice from the Jones Beach Gurus
Time of day - The 5:00pm rule seems to always be a part of what makes Jones work. In the summer wind starts at 3:30 even though the gradient has been there for awhile. The wind still doesn't really fill in to around five-ish!

Pressure: Look for .04 and increasing west gradient by early afternoon, sometimes even .03 if it has turned around fast.

Wind Directions - If Astoria goes SW and pressure gradient is in the right direction, then it is looking good. When this happens it often blows earlier at Jones

Maybe this should be posted on the site as everyone always asks. Can someone cut and paste this in the spots section for Jones!!

10 meter a bit gusty but still lots o fun. About 8 kiters out

A low fog cloud started creeping over the mountain on the Washington side and the sun was going down right next to it in the clear, sweet end to a sweet day.

Yeah, good day! Fun to watch friends break through the learning barrier... nice, mellow vibe, plenty of space, wind, & water... what more could you ask for?
