Probably. But if they have to erect a sign that says "No kiteboard jumping over the pier." it would almost be worth a few closures because only a handful of riders can make that leap....like Billy Parker for example.

Great video. Fun to see him launch over that.

However, reading the youtube comments that follow it just make me hate people in general...

For more than ten years, Billy Parker has surfed the waves and the winds, always wanting to make this one big jump. "I've been waiting for a lot of years to get my chance to go over this thing," Parker said.

As Tropical Storm Debby pounded the Bay area, Billy knew he had his chance, using the storms high winds, Billy saw his window to launch himself over the Long Pier on Redington Beach.

It was a risky feat, even with more than a decade of kite surfing under his belt.

"You get the butterflies in the belly, and it's like oh man what's gonna happen?" he said.

All that was put aside as Billy hit the waves, making a number of jumps while his girlfriend videotaped from the shore along with someone else, who posted the video online making it viral.

While this experienced kite surfer admits getting on the water during a storm can be dangerous, for him, it's just another day at the beach.

I think it's cool that people do extreme things. I also think it's cool that people do them and don't get killed.

I know alot of people who do extreme things and it raises the bar of what can and can't be done safely.

The fact is that somebody should say that this jump was risky. Can I say that? I hope so.

This jump potentially put others at risk.

driving your car down the block to get a mocha latte puts others at risk.

it's probably safe to say the kiter was the only at risk here. victory at sea means its pretty clear of civillians.

Risk is subjective to each individual, but there's no doubt this stunt was risk as f*ck.

Saying that and knowing BP, he'd never put anyone in harms way. Dude's a solid person and an incredible kiteboarder.

Like Gman said, this is just 'nother day to him. No big deal. Fly high and stomp hard!
