Okay, I know this is cheesy, but hey, Hood River does kick ass and it's worth letting the world know it.

Please vote for Hood River as your favorite River Town in USA on Outside Magazines BEST TOWN EVER contest :

Thank you!

where did they get that median income figure of 50K? The average per capita income in hood river was 24K in 2009.

according to statistics only 48% of people in hood river make more than 50K a year.

Anways, I voted for ithica NY. I just felt sorry for them.

Current figure is $28.7k. Currently it would take the average person two years to saving every penny for a down payment on the cheapest house in town. We have a problem.

Aren't there a lot of seasonal minimum wage jobs there during the summer that are taken by High School Students? That could be bringing down the "average" by quite a bit. I wish they would do the breakdowns by age like under 20, 20-30, 30-40, etc. Could give a more accurate picture of the median income.

Jeezus you guys.

Monkey, stick with the bottom of the barrel, that's why they say 'more fun than a barrel full of monkeys'.
As for the income, nice discussion, save it for a different post.

This is simply an off-topic request to help our local Hood River Chamber of Commerce help promote Hood River in an effective and recreationally beneficial manner.

Vote for Hood River (not Ithaca, duh!).

LOL, Go Hood River, Go, Go, Go!!!

I feel sorry for Ithica too, LOL

Just for those who don't call Da Gorge Home, Hood and The D have a bit of long standing rivalry. But, "Board heads" which includes anyone on a board, kite or mast, was looked on with great disdain by locals back in the day. In spite of the fact that Hood River was a dead town pre windsurfing era, mid 80's, folks didn't like them damn "Boardheads".
So, now the rivalry between The Dalles and Hood River is based on the perception that most people in Hood River are "Rich trust funders" and people from The Dalles are "red neck crack/meth heads." LMAO
The fact is that only real difference between Hood River and The Dalles is that The Dalles is drier and Hood River is a more expensive place to live. If your from the Southwest and you are familiar with Santa Fe, New Mexico, or Pheonix and Sedona, it's the same thing.

The other thing that makes Hood River and The Dalles Different is that Hood River has more restaurants. However, The Dalles has more good Mexican Restaurants. LOL, all of our restaurants are Mexican or fast food, but that is changing, thanks to Romul's and some others.

My finger still hurts, LOL
