Wed Jun 20, 12 2:47 pm Wakeboard recommendations |
|

I'm picking up a jet ski to expand the family's range for kiteboarding options/rescues. We also plan to wakeboard behind it on no/low wind days. Can someone give me the lowdown on 1 or 2 wakeboard recommendations - one intermediate board for a 180# rider and a beginner board for my kids (110-130#)? Sizes, types, brands, websites would be helpful.
I also have a 140cm cabrinha custom. Would that work for wakeboarding?
Cheers! |

For the smaller kid 134 will be a good size. Possibly 137-8 depending on how tall. Definitely 140+ for your bigger kid! Slingshot makes really awesome wakeboards!! The ones that are continuous rocker can even be riden behind the kite! _________________ I heart dangling |

I've got a 136 custom that I took behind a boat once "just to try". It was alright but not as good as an actual wakeboard as kiteboards are lighter, shaped different, etc. The rocker difference is a big player.
Since then i've stuck with a wakeboard for boats and kiteboard for kites (go figure). |

Thanks for the feedback.
Any ideas on a source for used wakeboards other than playing the eBay game? |

I thought wakeskating required a "wake" that would be minimal behind a jet ski. Are you messing with me, or is it a fun option behind a jet ski? |

Wakeboarding behind a jetski is not that great. You can easily pull the jetski every time you carve. Trying to maintain constant throttle with your thumb is difficult.
That cabrina custom has a ton of rocker like a wakebaord right? Seems like that should be good enough for a jetski. |

Wake skate is definitely better for a jet ski than a wakeboard would be _________________ I heart dangling |

I second that. A small wake is fun on a wakeskate. On a wakeboard it gets boring pretty fast, especially because you can't load hard to get any decent air and the lip is too small for big air. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC
