Sun Jun 10, 12 5:08 pm 2012 5'6" SS Pit reviews? |
|
|
Hi,
I'm a strapped directional rider, who rides mostly at Rosey, Rufus and Swell City, who gets to the coast a few times per year. I do jump my directionals as high as I can. Been eyeing this board and think it's what I am looking for as it seems like a solid ripper but is also built well and is light. Any reviews or thoughts?

I love the 56 pit strapped. Really fun slashy board. Planes up very well and is pretty outrageous in large swell. I left mine in Mexico for next winter and kind of wishing I hadn't. Strapless it's a little small for my taste--195 lbs--,however my 180 lb son loves it strapless.
The board's a winner. |

I have the 5'11" pit and love it. I'm 200lbs. Windance has them for demo. |

i have the 5'3" pit and love it. jump the hell out of it and it has held up amazingly well even with some of my less than stellar landings. strong and light and it just rips. no affiliation to Slingy, just dig the ride. |

I rode the 5'6" and 5'11" on a 9 m day at Rowena and thought the 5'6" was really slashy/quick but worried it slowed too much after a fast turn in chop/small swell. I ended up going with the 5'11". Quick turning with enough board to get me home from the Hatchery when the wind dies. I'm 185# and would love the 5'6" for high wind days out East but it would be small for me as an all around or coast board. |

Thanks! Decided to buy the 5'6" as I am coming off of a 5'2" Tuna that I loved. Mostly because I jump the hell out of my boards too. Rode the board at Rosey past two days. Today blew an average of 30mph for 9 consecutive hours. I even had to depower my 5m a bit. Swell sets came in at head high. Absolutely LOVE this board! So slashy and light. My only complaint is that as a booster, my rear footstrap slides a tad in the track. Any advice on this?
Thanks!

The main culprit for strap slide is foam pad compression under the plate that holds the strap down. You may need to add a stainless washer. Regardless, it's at its worst when the board and foam are new, and requires frequent tightening until the foam gets fully compressed. Glad you like the 56. Sure love mine. |
