I have a trip to Oahu in July. How is the wind in the summer? Is it worthwhile to bring my kite gear there or should I just leave it at home? I won't be going to any of the other islands during my trip.

last summer they had periods where it blew every day for weeks on end. Summer has more consistent and stronger wind than fall or winter. Chances are if you are there for at least a week you'll get some good riding. I'd love to check it out in the summer, but I tend to go in NOV when the season is done on the columbia. Google kailua and read up on the rules of the beach and don't be afraid to ask the locals if you're unsure about something. They really want people to be safe there so the beach doesn't get closed to kiting. Have fun!!

Oahu sucks.

lol hehe, nope it is awesome here. It is normally pretty good here in summer. It is light but consistent.

We're still working on the site, but the local rules can be found at kiteoahu.com and you might get some answers at the kiteoahu.com/forum ehh forum.

Also be especially considerate this summer about re:rules, as shit is hitting fans etc right now on the them wanting to ban just about everything...literally.
