How about an SUP sub forum here? Kiting and Sup'ing appear to go hand and hand these days and all the kite shops now sell SUPs.

Maybe a gear discussion section and a general section.

I would guess SUP is so self explanatory that it doesn't really merit much discusssion.

That said, this SUP is probably a good kiters friend. Its cheap and packs down and you are already schlepping around the pump. It's not high performance but it gets the job done when you're skunked.

Except don't buy it from Amazon but it from some local shop Very Happy

doing down-winders on sup when it is blowing 25 plus could use a local forum to help set up shuttles and to help first times out. Down-winders on SUP are definitely the most swell riding time you can get in the gorge.

Two words....Rod Parmenter. The living legend is an early day kiter and SUP machine. I don't think he's mixed the two....but as tstansbury points out....it's infinite swell good times with ironman like skills required to pull it off.

The only nice part of that SUP is that it does not take up much room in the Landfill. Really if your going to SUP get a real board not a inflatable pool toy, you will be much happier.

I do like & agree with the part of supporting your local shop tho!

"inflatable pool toy" - you are referring to the board, or that giant flying thing on strings that pulls me around?

whatevers, spend you money how you like... my buddy reps that board, if i cared about getting in a gear p!ssing contest i'd post up his vid of surfing it in absurdly long knee sized rollers at some remote CR spot that no-one humps a longboard into (much less a real SUP)

My family picked up that exact pool toy at Costco last year and love its portability. The board checks nicely as a piece of luggage and the paddle separates and fits well in our board bag. And long road trips with it... no problem!

That's great PJC that you want to pimp for your buddy who reps the Sevylor (he must not get paid on the Amazon sales). I just am a inflatable SUP hater as they are always very flexi due to the vector forces exerted on them. Yes they are a great swim platform for kids, they are great when not on the water, in your trunk, or to "hump" into some remote location.....but there is no inflatable available that can compare to a hard board, my 2 cents, no pissing match needed.

yeah my buddy's getting rich off that board - he ditched this totally unprofitable career in insurance to make mack off of inflatable underpriced SUP Rolling Eyes

whatevers, putting down the lotion, not getting the hose

They are not all soft by any means. You are not too familiar with SUP if you think they are all flexi. Can think of close friends who paddle them(inflateable) on class four + water and flex is not ever and issue. IF you are just going to paddle flat water epoxy boards etc serve a better purpose but when we are SUPing rivers and surfing waves you dont want a hard board. !!THis is a kite forum but familiarize yourself with the SUP before talking flex along with application etc.
Bring your glass board to the NW and take it home in pieces with the love of mother nature and the river!!!

Yea us poor folks down in Cali don't have any whitewater or know anything about SUP.
Yes inflatables won't ding, but I have been on many, and they ALL have flex. the only model that looks promising for less flex and River use is this one http://boardworkssup.com/news/tag/badfish-mcit
but I have not tried this one yet myself. And yes you can still run the sh!t with a inflatable but I prefer to do some occasional glass repair instead.

oh and Surfing waves you DEFINITELY want a hard board!

my sincere apologies to contaminate the kite forum with SUP stuff.
