I am going to get a shop air compresor for blowing up kites. does anyone know the air volume in a typical 10m kite? I want to get a small tank so it reaches pressure faster.

I don't know specifics but i do know that my 5 gallon tank will not top off my 12m. I have a larger 10gal that will do a full kite and about alf the second.

I think when Nate from Air Pirates did his demo he tested with scuba tanks and found that a kite holds about 8 gallons of air. If you choices are 5 and 10 I'd go with the 10.

This of course depends on the kite size and diameter of the bladder.

what psi is that at? I was thinking at 100psi it would only take a couple of gallons. the scuba tanks are at 2000psi.

I don't understand people who can't/won't pump up their kites.

What's the big deal? It takes 3 minutes and it's a good warmup before hitting the water.

And.... it has zero carbon footprint.

everything has a carbon foot print and trying to understand people from single internet post is never a good idea.

In case you didn't want to re-invent the wheel.
I would be a little worried about the temperature difference. Compressed air=cold. Could expand and cause problems but still pretty cool. Would be great if you lived in FL.

You don't really need/want a tank for your compressor. If the air is compressed, it will come out too fast and damage the bladder across from your valve, also very easy to blow up your kite. Hook the hose up first, then turn the compressor on so it fills slow.

20 gal at atmospheric pressure, 33 at 10 psi. a 5 gal air tank will contain 25 gal at 90 psi, and 35 gal at 120.
