Mon Feb 13, 12 3:47 pm Recommendations for Whistler next weekend? |
|
|
Work is sending me to Vancouver (BC, not WA) next week and I need to book travel ASAP but am pondering a personal extension to hit Whistler on Saturday. Any last-minute advice on someplace affordable to stay? This year's conditions worth it? Just to snowboard not to snowkite. I won't have a rental car so will have to pick one up Friday night - should I get AWD?
Yes Monkey I used search but don't have time to weed through y'all raving about mountain biking there...
Thanks! |

Your going to be at Whistler... Ride the lifts and enjoy the gravity induced fun because it is some of the best in North America. Leave the kites and complications at home. |

It's president's weekend, so expect crowds (and higher prices). The best booking tool is alluradirect.com, in fact you might even find cheaper last minute rates. do NOT rent a car! Take the Pacific Coach directly from one of the many stops in vancouver right to your place in whistler. Once you're there, you don't need a car. You can walk or bus to the village/mountain (if you're not staying right there anyway).
I have been snowkiting whistler backcountry for a couple years now, but I haven't had the stars align for me yet this year (stable snowpack, wind, vis, etc). Maybe next weekend... spring winds and longer days are coming! |

Thanks Jon and Chipotle, will fly in on 2/21 for business ending 2/24 so will miss Pres Day but crowds may spill over, good point. Glad I can avoid a car!
Hope the stars line up for you next weekend!! |

Yeah but all the American tourists do dude. US holidays mean considerably longer lift lines in Whistler. |
