I'm in Ridgway, right by Ouray.
A few tips:
Ouray is a good centralized location between Silverton and LH pass.
There are quite a few places to stay. The Antlers or The Matterhorn are two good options. The ice is super fat right now. All week is predicted to be cold, so the guys and gals will be making lots of ice this week.
LH Kiting: Works best on a SW frontal wind. If it's light wind, the north side of the pass will probably be the best, as it sits a bit higher. The forecast isn't looking very promising for the weekend.
Silverton Ski area: Only worth it if there is fresh snow.
Red Mtn Pass - If the wind looks too light at LH pass, skin up towards McMillan from the top of Red Mtn Pass to treeline. Launch wherever you want.
Let me know if you have any questions about the area!
