Another great La Ventana Classic and Kite Expo!
My trip began with 2 feet of fresh snow in Hood River, Oregon. I slid down my driveway at 4 am and finally dug myself out of a snow bank at around 6 am. Needless to say I missed my flight. But out of shear luck and airport bargaining I made into La Ventana by the end of the day. What a difference a day makes. The next day we had great wind and warm weather. After a full day of demoing the 2012 line, the Park and the twin tips were rarely on the beach. The feedback on the Park was excellent and the boards were received equally as well. Thank you everyone for trying the 2012 Naish line and bringing everything back in one piece.
The island crossing race was a great spectacle. By the way, windsurfers took it this year by a board length. The course racing was epic and fun to watch some large tangles. And of course the super fun big air/ old school was a crowd favorite. Congrats to Naish Riders Brittany Todd who took 2nd in big air, and Sam Bittner who won the crossing for the women’s windsurf division.
Big thanks to Marina Chang from The Kiteboarder and Tim Hatler from Palapas Ventana for all their hard work and putting on a great event. Already looking forward to next year, can’t wait!
