Mon Dec 26, 11 8:21 pm GoPro issues? |
|
|
So I know many of you have gopros and have figured out all the pros and cons..
Anyway I got a hero2 and took it out today and the dam thing locked up...
I got one quick. I'd then it would not respond to any commands and had to remove the batt
Another issue was sown of the pics I was able to get seemed to be corrupt.
So my question is; dose the cold affect them? Reason I ask is as soon as I get it back in the truck It seems to be functioning properly |

Sounds like your battery wasn't charged up all the way. I noticed recently that it is not always intuitive when it is charging...I make sure I get it in the mode where I see the battery animation showing charging.
All batteries are affected by cold, but you should be okay for a while on a full charge.
I guess if you still have the problem inside and fully charged...send 'er back! |

Sounds like a battery issue to me too but just in case, what kind of SD card were you using?
I've had problems with pretty much every brand of SD card out there with the exception of Sandisk. Not specifically problems with GoPro's but in general it seems like cheap SD cards tend to go bad or act flakey.
Sandisk Ultra II and Extreme III cards are all I use these days.
Good luck sorting out your issue. I love my Gopro's. I've owned pretty much every model. Hero, Hero 960, Hero HD and recently the Hero 2. Never had issues other then the occasional broken mount and the well known fogging problem if you don't use fresh antifog inserts or toilet paper each use. _________________ www.youtube.com/c/christianjohnsons |

I have had problems with my new gopro hd hero 2 as well and only used it once.
It has pink lines etc and the pictures look purple when you take a picture in a low light room. Night video is complete poo and un usable as well. |

Some important side notes that we have learned about GoPro use this past year as a GoPro Dealer.
- SD Card - Don't by the cheapest one you see. Some of the cheaper cards seem to either lock up or cause weird issues with camera use, not to mention breakage.
- Camera Video cords - Due to the unpredictable software systems used in modern flat screen tv's, it is advisable to not 'hook up' your GoPro directly to a TV. It is always best to remove your card and run video or photos via your computer. Some TV's will jam up or freeze a GoPro or Contour camera.
- Silicone AntiFog Inserts - These only cost $14.95 and supply you with enough reusable inserts to last a couple of years. These keep the lens from fogging internally and keep your camera dry and safe.
- If you have any issues, go to the website or contact your local dealer. We advise buying from a retailer that knows how to use a GoPro and has experience with any of the technology changes/improvments. _________________ Pure Stoke Sports

hey guys, these cameras are pretty simple and easy to use. but like the others mentioned they require you to keep your batteries charged and use the card that GoPro recommends to get the optimal performance from your camera. as for low lighting situation, action sports cameras like GoPro, are not really meant for low light environments, however the new HERO2 is significantly better than the original HD HERO.
keep in mind that just a couple of years ago, if anyone wanted an HD camera, you would have to shell out over a grand for that type of camera. pretty hilarious reading about how some are disappointed with a High Def camera that allows you to use it in all weather conditions, even underwater and it only costs $300. anyhow hope your results are better the next time you get the opportunity to use it again.

I had a similiar problem with my GoPro 960 freezing. Files were corrupted. I was using a card I already had laying around. It was sandisk but rated a 4 instead of 10 as recommended. I am trying with a new setup but no wind now.
I found this on the gopro forum. You have to register but hopefully this will help

gopro emailed me about the issues I had with my hero 2 and confirmed that they were happening to others and told me that the new firmware should correct the problem. |

Is the firmware out right now? Sorry but I am clueless. What do you do? Hook GoPro2 to computer and update firmware to the unit?

go to the gopro website under support I believe and then you download the correct version eg: windows/mac or regular HD hero or hero 2.
1) Make sure your HD HERO2 camera is:
a. Turned OFF
b. Unplugged from computer
c. Loaded with an SD card
d. Battery is well charged
2) Install CineForm Studio on your computer.
3) Once successfully installed, close the CineForm Studio program.
4) Insert SD card into your HD HERO2 camera.
5) Turn ON your HD HERO2 camera.
6) If your camera or SD card has not been used before, take a test photo or short video clip.
7) Connect your HD HERO2 camera to your computer with USB cable.
Open CineForm Studio software application.
9) If an update is available, a dialog box will appear — click “Update”.
10) CineForm Studio will automatically download and install the new firmware onto your HD HERO2 camera. |

I have my go pro for a few years now and it eats batteries.
The cold uses the life even faster. Especially our nice -30 winters.
Good memory cards ? Yes I do.
Many batteries , yes and rechargeable too.
One card = 1 set of batteries I find with mine.
