Hello to all,
Just got back from Brazil and as others on this forum have said it truly is an amazing place to kite and should be on everyone's bucket list. It takes awhile from the states to get there but it is worth it. Plus, the wind is so consistent that you are less likely to get skunked there then some closer winter locales.
I will say, however, I had a difficult time researching where to go since there are so many options and I struggled to find really helpful data on the web. As luck would have it, I ended up going to Prea and could not have been happier. The wind builds as you move north along the coast from Fortaleza so it rips in Prea. On an 8m everyday (205 lbs) for 12 consecutive wind days without a lull. Wind starts at 10am and blows until evening. Great options for downwinders in the area, especially at sunset (see pics below). Nice to leave the gorge wetsuit at home and kite in just boardshorts.
Wanted to pass on some info for others considering a trip to the area. I did not have any of this info prior to my trip but was lucky enough to stumble on to it while there. There is an Austrian dude by the name of Hacky in Prea who runs Kite Brazil Hotel. We only stayed here one night because we had already paid elsewhere but wish we could have stayed there the whole time. It is a great place. Hotel business aside, Hacky is "The" dude to know for kiting in that area and really for that whole coast as he has been there for years and traveled extensively. He had a kite school in Cumbuco prior to Prea and knows that area as well. He is an excellent resource and is very giving of his time and knowledge. Even if you don't stay with him I am sure he would be more than happy to give you the info you need. He continues to build on his 2 websites for the area and they have a ton of useful stuff on it. He is adding maps, wind, wave, and tide info for many spots on that coast. How is it that I did not come across this on my google searching prior to my trip I will never know. Hacky is also a phenomenal kiter/instructor if you are looking to expand your game. Please note I have no financial connection with them but I feel good people deserve word-of-mouth praise.
His websites:

you can also reach him on facebook.
Hope this is helpful and that everyone has the chance to get to Brazil soon.

I'm still here finishing up my month in a few more days. It has gone way beyond any expectations I ever had about this coast. The wind is so rock solid and predictable I could've just brought my 8M and been perfectly happy every day. The high point of this trip so far has been my 3 days in Maramar, which is farther west from Jericoacoara by a few hundred kilometers. Imagine several thousand acres of sandbars and blue bath water flats (a la "The Ponds"). The wind is almost 24/7 and the conditions are so perfect they're almost unbelievable. Gary and Rocio at Pousada Maramar Kite are wonderful hosts. Most definitely coming back soon:
