Any suggestions for waterproof headphones/shuffle/iPod for use while riding?
Earbuds? Over the ear? Around the neck? Stuff player in wetsuit?
I'd like to hear about your experiences.

Nate from AirPirates has some sort of vacuum/waterproof portable music/cellphone/ipod case. I don't know what he/other people do for waterproof headphones but that might be a decent place to start looking. Here's a link to the page for the waterproof thingy: http://www.air-pirate.com/product/waterproof-drycase

I think I would be a bit nervous about using headphones on the Columbia. With windsurfers, other kiters, and misc boats sneaking up behind me - a lot of times I hear them before I see them. And I am able to stay out of everyone way.....

Hate to say it but if you hear them before you can see em chances are your in trouble. With wind in your face you rarely can hear shit till its right next to you! On the columbia you should always be scanning the river with your eyes. If you can proactively do that then your eyes are all you need.

Yeah - I scan every tack, but sometimes a windsurfer on the same tack will overtake me from behind and I will hear their board slappin the chop. I will look back and if they look close - I will give em a bit more room. Small power boats or jet skis that are darting in and out will be heading a completely different direction sometimes than the last time I saw them on my scan at the turn. Hearing the motor in a place that I did not expect will cause me to take an extra look over my shoulder to make sure I am OK. I am still a newb - so I like having all my senses available. After more years of experience - maybe I will feel comfortable with some music.

I have the H2O waterproof case and earbuds for my 3rd gen iPod, and swear by them. I WILL NEVER kite again without getting 'juiced up' by my tunes. I made different playlists according to what type of conditions I am riding in, to match my riding style. I put my "Truckin' Tunes" playlist on for a light cruisey day, or if its nukin, I listen to "Hard Charger" playlist. The possibilities are endless...
I am selling a player I never used if interested? I got the ipod right after getting this. PM me.

spendy, and you gotta take care of them (my first pair crapped out after a few seasons). you can't hear anything else with them in (including wind noise). when you put them in your ears, they have to stay in for the session. warranty is sketchy at best. they don't pop out of your ears when you slam.

i have not listened to any other headphones that even comes close on the water...

(see package "C", headphones only
