Leatt is great. They have a new model "DBX Bike" that is a nice price point.
wondering if Monkey didn't take the time to fit it correctly? Everyone I ride with has one and no one mentions discomfort. I can't tell I have it on. |

Crazy. Rag dolled for sure plus the ever popular shoes flying off. Liked the "no one died" disclaimer. |

Dude, I think that's just a carpool for Blackrock this Sat, not shuttle. I think they have Flow Cup race weekend shuttling the last weekend of Oct though. I'm def gonna try make it unless the weather is horrid.
I use a DBX Comp Leatt and it fits pretty comfy. It's best to try it on with your helmet and spine protector if any. Definitely spend some time fitting it as well. I kinda hated mine the first few rides. Once I adjusted the spacers and figured out I can insert it into my spine protector (between plastic guards and fabric of the protector) I don't notice it too much anymore.
I wouldn't recommend an Alpinestar. They clank against your helmet due to lack of padding.
Some people use the Omega brace and seem happy with it. Less known than Leatt so hard to say how it compares during crashes, but it does seem more comfy and adjustable in a way. I've heard of at least two people who crashed head first with the Omega and their neck was OK so it must be at least somewhat decent.
I personally picked Leatt due to the volume and how long they've been around, but without a standard for testing these who knows which is better. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

Hey Monkey,
I don't think you can make a Leatt work with regular body armor. I think that might be your problem. The chest/back part of regular armor will get in the way of the Leatt resting on your chest.
TLD and a few others (but TLD is the best) have come out with a really sweet roost guard that fits perfectly with the Leatt. The key is the large void in the collarbone and upper back for the Leatt to nest into.
Anyway, I ride with an ER doc and he swears by them. My best friend's kid is alive and not a quadriplegic because he was wearing a Leatt when he scorpioned during a moto. |

Haha. That's just nature's way of saying "Don't wear lycra or I will smack you sideways!" _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

Well it's good to see somebody is hitting all that huge shit that I constantly ride by and say "uh-uh, f$#% that..."
My first season on a bike and up at Post - would be down to help out with maintaining trails up there - but have no idea who/where/how to get in touch with the people who know what they're doing (as I obviously don't.) Since this obviously isn't the right forum, could someone point me to the right one? |

The best information source is: http://gorgefreeride.blogspot.com/
You can also find information by following m_estes and pinnermtb on Twitter.
I also posted some information about a Post Canyon work party on Saturday in this thread:
