New Pump

Anyone tried this pump? I'm talking about the SUP pump abut halfway down the page. Looks like it might be taller than current kite pumps?

I use Carlson raft pumps. Big volume and ultra bomber. My big one is over 20 years old now and still works like new. Spendy but it will be your last pump that you ever buy.

My wife has one that I've used to help her pump up her SUP. The pump works well, it just gets difficult to pump as the PSI gets near the 20 PSI range.

Hard to tell actual size from picture, but it looks similarly sized to the one Teccko was using to pump up the Liquid Force inflatable couch at Bridge of the gods.

Standing fully upright, he pumped up the couch, which is probably equivalent to 15 or 20 size 16m kites, in a short time.

Same kinda thing, inflatable boat pump. Easily three times the size of kite pumps.
Don't know the brand, Greg would know.

What I like about the looks of this one is it doesn't seem to be as bulky as a full blown raft pump, and yet it might be better than what we use. Plus, it's a LOT cheaper than a raft pump at only $49. Not worth it if it's the same as our pumps, but even if it's 6" taller, that would be a huge improvement for those of us dealing with back injuries.

I wish someone would develop a decent pump. I've been going through a couple per season lately between broken fittings, blown out valves, an crushed hoses. I'd gladly pay over a hundred $ for a well built one. Having a human sized version would be nice, too. Hopefully there is an entrepreneur out there listening.

I used one of the sup inflatable pumps and it was awesome! I am 6'4" and it was perfect for me not much bending over. But the price is expensive I think it was around 120. They are meant to pump up over 20 psi so a kite is no big deal!

I have been using a pump similar to the one in NAK's photo above. It came with my C4 SUP board. It sells on-line for $85. I forget the name of the site, but they do sell a lot of raft pumps. They have "kite-type" pumps that retail up to $250. The $85 dollar one that I have is amazing. Effortless pumping, higher pressures attained with easier strokes, no grease on shaft, better hose, taller, and even though it is single stroke, because of the larger volume, it pumps a 10m in just 5 more strokes than a standard 2-stroke kite pump. Well worth it. I would love to try out the $250 model.

Have a friend who took a normal "tall" kite pump (? 4"x20" or so size i guess ? ) and extended it.
The extension is made from ~6" of 4" id pvc sewer pipe, with a pvc closet flange (what else?!!) on each end. One flange is screwed to the base "feet" of the pump, the other rests on the ground, giving plenty of lip to hold it down with your feet.
Works very nicely to reduce back stress.....
