in my opinion, this is absolutely the best perspective achieved for filming kiteboarding with POV cams.
filmed with a Contour GPS mounted via the kitehero kite line mount attached to a bungee line around the leash point and the center strut.
the camera is pointing in the upwind direction, for the most part.
needs some refinements with getting the angle correct, but overall this is the most amazing view.

Nice. I'd love to see a picture of the mounting set up that you described. Have a go pro and the kiteline .attachment and would definitely give that rig a shot if I could see how it was done. My favorite gopro angle is the center strut pointing down at the liter. Thanks for always posting shots.

I will answer for Stringy.
Footage was from Golden Gardens in Seattle, just north of the city taken yesterday.

Stringy just invented the worlds most cost conscious heli-cam. Great perspective Jim!

Really cool perspective for catching the action of other riders and a feel for the mood of the local that day. Looks like a great kite spot with the sand beach and fun water terrain. Wish I was there that day!!

I can see how mounting cameras on short line kites could be useful for other sports beyond kiteboarding. Even anchoring kites in light winds from a stationary point to film surfing could be done to get a more elevated perspective which is sometimes hard to achieve. Pipeline would be a perfect example with the NE trades that create perfect conditions at that spot. This would put the camera above the other 100+ photographers all attempting to get the magic shot.

Idea Idea Idea

bingo

thats the idea. it also gives those with a POV cam another option when they want to film. I'll have this dialed eventually.
I'll post up a picture of the setup once I have my kite pumped again.
I'm pretty sure you can use it with the kitehero GoPro mount, I just haven't tried it yet. The contour cams are nice in this application because its a non wide and the rotating lens allows you to re orientate the lens to the correct aspect.
and thanks again for your kind words. happy to share the stoke.

kaskade/deadmau5 song is called "I remember". I thought the instrumental version fits for this type of perspective.

anyhow here is an image of the camera and how its attached to the LE.
I just attached a bungee by looping it around the center strut and then connecting to the leash pump loop- on my park. this forms a nice "V" to attach the kite line mount to. As for the line mount, I heated it up and bent the arms to help with going with the shape of the LE. If you notice under the cam housing, there is a small plastic bracket that helps angle the camera better.
I think the gopro with line mount setup will work, but the camera rests at 90 degrees from how you actually want it sitting. The nice thing with the contour GPS camera is 1) it not a wide angle and 2) it has the rotating lens so its super easy to get the correct aspect.
I did some additional testing last night and this setup is going to change the way we want to watch POV videos.
