Where to go? East and west gorge looks like light east wind. Can you camp at Jones beach?

For a change, I'll be at sunset beach, all week. Will be buggying with a few dozen other people, so if you're interested to try a buggy, landboard or foil, swing by. There'll be 16m foils, which only need a few mph to get rolling. Typically we're at the first pole north of the sunset beach entrance below Camp Rilea. Forecast for the coast is light, but its hard to tell. If the wind pushes 20, I'll do a speed run on the buggy then hit the water! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRwZ07Zv_LQ ... and you can dangle too, if that's your thing.

Anyone up for some downwinders this afternoon? I'm thinking of leaving PDX in the next hour and going to either Manzo or Ft. Stevens. Let me know!!

If you end up at sunset and are at Jones looking for a place to camp that is not full of dusty quads... drive 15 minutes east into Clatskanie and stay at the city park in an actual campground. It's $5 honor system, has nice bathrooms, fireplaces, shaded grassy quiet campsites, RV hook-ups, and a good selection of restaurants within walking distance. We even got wi-fi free walking around town. Warm showers are available apparently for free at the city swimming pool next door, but I never tried.

I'll check next time and see if the Ladies bathroom has a diaper station. Smile

How many sites are there? If I show up tonight, am I going to get a spot in Clatskanie?

Yes, there's always plenty of spare campsites. Maybe we'll see you there.

Hi, I just moved to the area from NY and don't know any of the spots yet. Judging from this it looks like rooster is the spot for tomorrow. If there is anyone from the Portland area I can hitch a ride with I would really appreciate it - live in the pearl district. Happy to pay for gas/beers. Thanks, Derek 917 690 0234
