Sat Aug 27, 11 10:39 pm Foot straps. Loose or tight? |
|
|
I am a newbie to kiteboarding (long time windsurfer) and want to know if I should have my board straps (TT) loose or tight. I have them loose right now so they are easier to get into but I am finding that my feet move around a lot. I am pretty comfortable getting into the straps now so I wasn't sure if I should be tighten them up so I have better control of the board or keep them loose for easy entry and exit. _________________ Steve

TIGHT!!!
You do not want to crash after a fall and have your foot go through the footstrap. |

Never loose, but how tight depends on the both how much stretch is in the strap and the pad design. Trial and error... Too tight and your feet will suffer, too loose and you lose control. crappy straps and pads won't be comfy or have good control. I really like the 2011 LF comp setup. I did have to mod them to fit my Lunacy though... |

Surfboard with loose straps or none. Never had a problem, like to jump. Stopped "riding" twin tips as soon as I got a surfboard. I think I liked them pretty tightened down though. _________________ Take the red pill... |

I would recommend tight, however I have yet to have a binding that fits. I've tried so many. Mine are loose & I just grip with my toes & press down hard. Kinda sucks for jumping as my back foot usually comes out. Janice uses bicycle tubing for heel straps to keep her feet in. I recently found an old pair of wakeboard bindings I use to use that I may try out. Notice the comfy bungy fabric heel straps. Easy to put on & take off. Wish they still made these. _________________ Be kind to Kooks |

My image didn't post. I'll try again... Not working. Oh well. Hey Phil, what's up? The size is correct. It says "de-bug mode". Took the photo with my iphone & reduced the image. _________________ Be kind to Kooks |
